English Department

At Aberdeen St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School , we encourage students to:

  • Acquire language and interpersonal skills in context through diverse learning experience.

  • To develop various generic skills such as creativity, problem solving, communication and so on as a 21st century citizen.

  • Strengthen positive values and attitudes to live a meaningful life.

Every year, the English Department implements diverse plans for both curriculum and activities to enhance students’ growth.

Reading Across Curriculum (RaC)

The Education Bureau promotes Reading Across Curriculum (RaC) to help students develop reading strategies and make meaningful connections between different learning experiences. Our school has launched RaC Projects for Primary 4, 5, and 6 English Curriculum. Teachers selected engaging books on various topics, and after in-class discussions and reading activities, students applied their knowledge through scientific experiments or by writing their own books on the topics. These projects not only help students acquire language skills but also encourage the application of knowledge based on the content of the books.

Collaboration with Educational Partners

Recent year, ASPCPS collaborated with educational partners:

  1. Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks – Schools (QTN-S)

Both included a series of lesson observations and co-planning meetings for teachers and students to explore enhanced teaching and learning opportunities.

English Drama Team Achievements
Our school’s English Drama Team achieved great success this year, proudly representing our school at the Drama Festival 2023/2024. Two performers received the Award for Outstanding Performer, and the school was honored with the Award for Outstanding Cooperation and the Award for Outstanding Audio-visual Effects.

English Fun Day

Each year, ASPCPS hosts English Fun Day to encourage students to communicate in English in an enjoyable manner. Last year's theme was "God Grants Me Talents." We were delighted to receive support from four secondary schools:

  1. St. Peter's Secondary School

  2. St. Joan of Arc Secondary School

We appreciate the collaboration with secondary school providing them an opportunity of community service. Meanwhile, our students had an exciting time at the booths, participating in games and conversations in English. The day was filled with joy as they won prizes and created memorable experiences.
