Learning Community for Primary English Language Teachers (2025/26) Showcase of Students’ Talent – Primary 5 Reading across the Curriculum Project

Our English Department was honoured to be invited by the Language Learning Support Section of the Education Bureau to share our Primary 5 Reading across the Curriculum (RaC) project at the Learning Community for Primary English Language Teachers (2025/26).
The theme of our project, “Healthy Lifestyle” integrated Reading across the Curriculum, e-Learning, Values Education and Assessment Literacy to create a rich and meaningful learning experience. Students developed reading skills, particularly guessing the meaning of unfamiliar words, while learning about healthy eating and regular exercise. They applied their knowledge by writing puppet scripts and performing a live Puppetry Show.
Through multi-modal reading materials and the use of the “SchoolAI” Historic Figure Chatbot, students enhanced their inquiry skills and information literacy. To provide an authentic learning experience, we also invited Hong Kong athlete Mr. Lui Ching Nam to share his journey, strengthening students’ perseverance and national identity.
Clear performance rubrics and peer assessment further promoted self-directed learning. The project successfully enhanced students’ language skills, creativity, collaboration and confidence, culminating in an impressive live puppetry performance by our Primary 5 representatives.
